A postage stamp was issued in honour of the Winter Olympic Games

In honour of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in February, Eesti Post will issue the postage stamp ‘Winter Olympic Games, Beijing 2022’. In addition to the postage stamp, the first day cover and information card will also be published. The first day stamp is used at the Toompea post office on the day of presenting the postage stamp, i.e. on 6 January. The circulation of the postage stamp is 20,000, the nominal value is 1.90 euros, and the postage stamp was printed by the Vaba Maa printing house. The postage stamp was designed by Jaan Saar.

The tradition of issuing Olympic postage stamps began after Estonia regained its independence. A total of 21 Olympic stamps have been issued by Eesti Post together with the postage stamp dedicated to the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. In addition, eight postage stamps have been dedicated to our Olympic winners, the last of which was the postage stamp issued last week in honour of the women’s épée team that took the gold at the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games.

Eesti Pank will also issue a silver collector coin in honour of the Winter Olympic Games. The presentation of both the postage stamp and the collector coin will take place on 6 January at 11 a.m. at Eesti Pank.

The postage stamp can already be purchased from the  e-shop of Omniva, and the coins will be available from the e-shop of Omniva from Thursday, 6 January at 11 a.m.
The XXIV Winter Olympic Games will take place on 4–20 February 2022 in Beijing, China. Beijing also hosted the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. That makes Beijing the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
