Warning: You do not need to enter Smart-ID PIN codes to receive a registered letter
A scam is currently circulating in which a caller posing as an Omniva courier tells the customer that a registered letter has allegedly arrived from a county court.
During the call, the scammer asks the customer to confirm receipt of the letter by entering their Smart-ID PIN codes. A Smart-ID request then appears on the customer’s phone. If the customer refuses to confirm the request, the scammers threaten them with a fee for returning the letter or debt collection proceedings.
This is a scam. Do not enter your PIN codes or confirm any Smart-ID or Mobile-ID request.
Remember:
Omniva will never ask a customer to authenticate using Smart-ID or Mobile-ID over the phone.
When delivering a registered letter, the postal courier verifies the recipient’s identity in person and asks to see an identity document.
If you receive such a call, end it immediately. Do not allow threats or time pressure to influence you.
If you have entered your PIN codes or confirmed a request at a scammer’s instruction, contact your bank immediately.
