Due to a sustained decline in customer visits, Omniva will close the Sillamäe post office starting June 19. All parcel and postal services will remain available in the area.

Over the past year, an average of 48 parcels per day were handled through the Sillamäe post office, while parcel lockers in Sillamäe process an average of 200 parcels per day. In the first four months of this year, visits to the Sillamäe post office decreased by 51% compared to the same period last year.

“Consumer habits have changed – visits to post offices are rapidly declining as people prefer parcel lockers. During 2026, we will better align our postal network with society’s changing needs by reducing the number of post offices across Estonia and increasing the number of parcel lockers,” explained Lylian Peek, Head of Omniva’s Post Office Network.

All postal services will continue to be available to residents of the Sillamäe area.

Both domestic and international parcels can be registered for shipment via Omniva’s self-service in the mobile app or at minu.omniva.ee. “In self-service, customers can see all their outgoing and incoming parcels, track their journey, current status, and estimated delivery time. Customers can also change the delivery location or extend the storage period,” Peek added.

Parcels can be picked up and dropped off via parcel lockers at Sillamäe Viru pst Maxima X or Coop Maksimarket, or via courier service.

Postage stamps and other mailing supplies can be purchased at the Sillamäe Museum and Sillamäe Maksimarket. Letters can be sent via mailboxes.

In Ida-Viru County, Jõhvi and Narva post offices will remain open, and Kohtla-Järve post office will remain open until end of year.

Locations of all Omniva post offices, parcel lockers, stamp retailers, and mailboxes can be found here.

After the closure of the post office, Omniva will offer personal postal service in Sillamäe – the option to request a postal courier to your home or workplace. The service is designed for people who cannot or do not wish to use digital solutions, and it is also a good option for those with mobility difficulties. Through the courier, customers can access all the same services as at a post office – purchase stamps and supplies, send and receive letters and universal service parcels, pay bills, and order periodicals. The personal postal service can be ordered via Omniva’s website or customer service at [email protected] or 664 3330.

“We wish all residents of Sillamäe a smooth transition to the new postal service solutions,” said Lylian Peek.
