Santa’s replies reached over a thousand mailboxes via Omniva
This year, Omniva once again offered the opportunity to send Christmas wishes and thoughts to Santa Claus by mail. In addition to Estonia, letters arrived from seven different countries, with the most distant shipment coming fromJapan. In total, Omniva posted 1,315 replies from Santa to those writers who had included a legible return address on their letter.
“Although fewer letters are sent by mail each year, sending holiday greetings to loved ones remains a wonderful tradition, as is sending a letter to Santa Claus. We are delighted that, for the fourth year in a row, our hardworkingelves at Omniva could contribute to sharing Christmas joy and delivering Santa’s replies. We do this to ensure that the magic of Christmas reaches as many of Santa’s pen pals as possible,” explained Agne Teder, CommunicationsManager at Omniva Estonia.
The highest volume of letters to Santa arrived in mid-December—513 in total—though the preceding weeks were equally busy. This year also saw a large number of letters from kindergartens, where teachers took it uponthemselves to record the children’s Christmas wishes.
This year’s letters stood out for their creativity. Envelopes were decorated with drawings and stickers, and the wish lists themselves were accompanied by plenty of artwork. Some letters included candies to cheer up Santa, and oneeven contained a pocket calendar for the coming year.
Sending wishes to Santa is not just for children; since dreams have no age limit, the writers also included adult men and women. Many families sent joint letters, with mothers, fathers, and even grandparents represented among theauthors.
The gift wishes reflected both modern trends and a longing for timeless toys. LEGO sets remain popular, but alongside them, children are wishing for Labubu figures, cosmetics, and iPhones.
“There were other special requests as well. One child asked for a large gift for their father, but noted that for themselves, just one apple would suffice,” Teder said, giving an example. “There were also adults who wrote to Santa about their longing for a new addition to the family, affirming that they were ready to be good parents to a child,” Teder added.
This marks the fourth year that Omniva has delivered replies to letters sent to Santa. Writing a letter is a great way to teach children how to send mail using paper, an envelope, and a stamp. Santa’s replies were sent back to thoseletters that included a return address.
