Omniva to close Jüri and Rae post offices and install a parcel locker in Uuesalu
During 2026, Omniva will align Estonia’s postal network with actual service usage. As part of this restructuring, the Jüri post office will close on 19 February and the Rae post office on 19 April. In addition, a parcel locker is expected to be installed in Uuesalu in March. All postal services will remain accessible to residents of Rae Municipality going forward.
Parcels can be registered for sending via Omniva’s self-service portal at minu.omniva.ee and sent or received through parcel lockers or by courier. Postage stamps and other mailing supplies can be purchased from resellers (such as Peetri Selver, Charlot store, Jüri Grossi store and Coop Vaida store) or from Omniva’s e-shop, and letters can be mailed via public letterboxes. Locations of parcel lockers, resellers and letterboxes in Rae Municipality can be found here.
For residents with reduced mobility and for those who find it difficult to use technological solutions, including elderly people, Omniva also offers a personalised postal service – the option to request a postal courier to one’s home or workplace. From the courier, customers can purchase stamps, postcards and other supplies, send and receive letters and universal service parcels, pay bills and subscribe to periodicals.
Omniva will also introduce new ways of using postal services to residents of Rae Municipality at meetings with senior citizens at the Rae Social Centre and with borough and village elders at Rae School House at the end of January.
People’s consumption habits have changed significantly alongside technological development – the volume of paper letters sent has decreased considerably over the past decade, while parcel volumes have grown substantially. Most people now prefer to send and receive parcels via parcel lockers, which has led to a steady decline in post office visits. Over the course of this year, Omniva will bring the postal network more closely in line with society’s changing needs by reducing the number of post offices across Estonia and increasing the number of parcel lockers.
“Rae Municipality is one of the places where the need to modernise the postal network is particularly evident – while an average of 35 parcels per day pass through the municipality’s post offices, local parcel lockers handle an average of 510 parcels per day,” explained Kadri Heero, Omniva’s Head of Postal Offices for Harju County. “We wish all residents of Rae Municipality a smooth transition to the new postal service solutions.”
