Omniva marks Europe Day with a EUROPA anniversary stamp
On 9 May, Europe Day, Omniva will issue a EUROPA anniversary stamp celebrating the 70th anniversary of Europe’s best-known stamp series.
EUROPA stamps are among the world’s most recognised and widely collected international stamp series. They are issued annually by European postal operators under a common theme. Coordinated by PostEurop, the series symbolises cooperation between European countries, a shared identity, and cultural diversity.
The 2026 anniversary stamp features a diagonally ascending line of dots reminiscent of the perforated edge of a postage stamp, symbolising the shared journey of Europe’s postal operators. The seven connected dots represent seven decades of cooperation, while the colours of theEuropean flag blending into the background highlight the unity of different nations. The common design for all participating countries was created by Posti Finland in 2025, while the Estonian edition was designed by Birgit Pajust.
“To make the EUROPA stamp more accessible and widely used, we have issued it as a self-adhesive stamp this time. It is complemented by a unique first day cover featuring, for the first time, both Estonian and Seto language on the cancellation mark,” said Hannes Nagel, Head of Philately at Omniva.
According to Nagel, EUROPA stamps hold a special place in philately, as they are Europe’s best-known and most anticipated stamp series, collected all over the world.
“The cancellation mark issued on Europe Day highlights the diversity of Estonian culture, while the design of the envelope references a metro-style destination board where our home continent is presented in many European and world languages. It is both an international and distinctly local issue,” Nagel added.
In addition to their practical use, EUROPA stamps also serve a cultural purpose by introducing the values, history, and creativity of European countries. For Estonia, this is an opportunity to be part of a broader European story and to reach international audiences through its designsand themes.
The EUROPA postage stamp costs €3.90 and is suitable for international mail. The print run is 100,000 copies. The stamps were printed by AS Vaba Maa and are available in Omniva’s e-shop and post offices across Estonia. The first day cancellation mark will be used at the Tallinn Kaubamaja post office.
In 2026, Omniva will issue 46 postage stamps dedicated to important themes and events in Estonian history, culture, and society. Omniva postage stamps are printed on paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC label confirms that the wood used for producingthe paper comes from responsibly managed forests.
