Omniva issues Estonia’s first self-adhesive stamp block combining fauna and flora

On 12 March, Omniva will issue Estonia’s first self-adhesive stamp block, highlighting the diversity of Estonia’s fauna and flora as well as changing living environments. The stamp block was designed by artist Birgit Pajust.

The stamp block features species representing different habitats in Estonian nature, from insects and birds to freshwater life and mammals. The European bee-eater, Old World swallowtail, snow flea, redpoll, greater water-moss and mayflies bring out different layers of biodiversity, while the European hedgehog, Estonia’s animal of the year, points to the close connection between people and nature. Together, these species offer a cross-section of Estonia’s biodiversity and reflect how our living environment is changing and how species adapt across ecosystems.

“The stamp block reminds us how closely Estonian nature, biodiversity and people’s living environment are connected. Bringing together species ranging from the hedgehog to the smallest invertebrates, it highlights how important it is to notice and protect the natural world around us — both today and in the future,” said Hannes Nagel, Head of Philately at Omniva.

The stamp block consists of four different stamps. Its denomination is €7.20 and the print run is 5,000 copies. The stamp block is available in the Omniva e-shop and at post offices across Estonia. The First Day postmark is available at the Tallinn Kaubamaja post office.

In 2026, Omniva will issue over 40 postage stamps marking important themes and events in the history and culture of Estonia and Estonian society. Omniva’s stamps are printed on paper bearing the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) mark for responsible forestry. The FSC label confirms that the wood used to produce the paper comes from responsibly managed forests.
