Omniva issues a postage stamp to mark the 100th anniversary of the State Seal
Omniva is issuing a postage stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the State Seal of the Republic of Estonia. The stamp was designed by Kadri Võsumäe.
Estonia’s first State Seal was commissioned in 1925 from the London-based company Waterlow & Sons and was taken into use in 1926. As the seal was used by law only in foreign relations, very few impressions of it have survived. At the beginning of the occupation, the parts of theState Seal were dismantled, but they were successfully hidden and preserved, giving this symbol a special place in the story of Estonia’s national continuity.
The jubilee stamp features the State Seal of the Republic of Estonia based on the historical original.
“The State Seal is one of the representative symbols of the Republic of Estonia, and its meaning extends beyond official use into historical memory. The jubilee stamp allows everyone to take part in it and to share this important symbol with our friends abroad,” said Hannes Nagel, Head of Philately at Omniva.
The standard postage stamp is priced at €1.80 and is suitable for domestic mail. The print run is 24,000 copies. The stamp is available in Omniva’s online shop and at post offices across Estonia. The First Day cancellation is in use at the Tallinn Kaubamaja post office.
In 2026, Omniva will issue more than 40 postage stamps marking important themes and events in the history and culture of Estonia and Estonian society. Omniva’s stamps are printed on paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), confirming that the wood used in thepaper production comes from responsibly managed forests.
