Omniva issues a postage stamp dedicated to the Winter Olympic Games
On January 23, Omniva will issue a postage stamp dedicated to the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, marking the participation of the Estonian national team in the world’s largest winter sports event. The stamp continues Estonia’s tradition of Winter Olympics–themed stamps and, together with the first day cover, was designed by artist Kadri Võsumäe.
The Milano–Cortina Winter Olympic Games will take place in Italy from February 6 to 22, 2026. For Estonia, participation in the Winter Olympics represents involvement in a top-level international sporting event where the country’sname and flag are in the global spotlight. For a small nation, competing in the Olympics is in itself a symbolic achievement and an important part of the country’s sporting history and international visibility.
“A postage stamp dedicated to the Winter Olympic Games is part of a long-standing tradition through which Omniva highlights the participation of the Estonian national team in the Olympics. These issues also document Estonia’spresence on the international sporting stage through philately,” said Hannes Nagel, Head of Philately at Omniva.
The Milano–Cortina 2026 stamp is the fourteenth Estonian Winter Olympics–themed postage stamp issued since 1994. The stamp is released together with a commemorative coin issued by the Bank of Estonia.
The Milano–Cortina Winter Olympic Games postage stamp is priced at €3.90 and is suitable for sending international letters. The print run is 30,000 copies. The stamps are available for purchase in the Omniva e-shop and at post offices across Estonia.
In 2026, Omniva will issue a total of 46 postage stamps highlighting important themes and events in Estonia’s national and social history and culture. Omniva’s stamps are printed on paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council(FSC), confirming that the wood used in the paper production comes from responsibly managed forests.
