Maardu City Government and Omniva to Relocate Maardu Post Office to a New Address in March
In cooperation with the Maardu City Government, Omniva will relocate the Maardu post office to a new address in March.
The Maardu City Government and Omniva have agreed on a solution under which the Maardu post office will continue operating, but in a new location. As of 19 March, the post office will move to Karjääri 7, Maardu.
The post office will remain open at its current rented premises at Keemikute 2 until 16 March. On 17–18 March, the post office will be closed due to the relocation of inventory.
At the new location, customers will continue to have access to all postal services: sending and receiving parcels, purchasing stamps and packaging, making payments, and subscribing to periodicals. The post office will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 to 17:00, and Wednesday from 10:00 to 18:00.
Maardu City and Omniva Find a Solution to Preserve the Post Office
According to Lylian Peek, Head of Omniva’s Postal Network, the use of postal services has changed significantly in recent years. While the Maardu post office handled an average of 60 parcels per day, local parcel lockers processed an average of 223 parcels per day. Due to changing consumer habits, visits to smaller post offices have declined, and Omniva has had to review its postal network across Estonia.
In January, Omniva approached the Maardu City Government with a proposal to discuss the future of the post office. As a result of the negotiations, a solution was found that allows the service to continue in the city. The City of Maardu will provide Omniva with premises free of charge and will cover utility costs and half of an employee’s salary to ensure the continuation of postal services locally.
Maardu Mayor Aurika Sin-Kerra emphasized the importance of the decision:
“In a situation where many essential services are being moved to larger centers, it is especially important that local governments stand up for the everyday needs of their residents. The City of Maardu considers it important that services do not move further away from people and that smaller cities retain the opportunities necessary for daily life. In cooperation with Omniva, a balanced and responsible solution has been found that serves the interests of the people of Maardu and demonstrates that good partnership helps achieve the best outcome in challenging situations.”
Postal and Parcel Services in Maardu
In addition to the post office relocating to a new address, Maardu residents can use Omniva’s self-service portal at minu.omniva.ee or the mobile app to send and manage both domestic and international parcels.
“In self-service, customers can see all parcels they have sent or are expecting, tracking codes, the shipment route, and the current location. Customers can also change the parcel pickup point or extend the storage period themselves,” added Lylian Peek.
Parcels can be handed over to or collected from Omniva parcel lockers at Maardu Maxima XX, Pärli Keskus, Maxima X, and Grossi stores, or via courier.
In addition to the post office, stamps are also sold at Maardu Prisma. Letters can be posted in Omniva mailboxes. All parcel locker locations, stamp retailers, and mailbox locations in the Maardu area can always be found on Omniva’s website here. Postal supplies are also available in Omniva’s e-shop.
For residents with limited mobility or those who do not use digital solutions, Omniva offers a personal postal service – the option to call a postal courier to their home or workplace. Through the courier, customers can purchase stamps and envelopes, send and receive letters and universal postal service parcels, pay bills, and subscribe to periodicals. To order the service, fill out the web form, email [email protected], or call 664 3330.
