Rakvere Post Office Relocation Moved to an Earlier Date
This December, the Rakvere Post Office will move from its rented premises at F. G. Adoffi 11 to Omniva’s Distribution Centre, located at Narva Street 39a. Originally, the new post office was scheduled to open at the end of December, but it has now been agreed with the landlord that operations at Kroonikeskus will end on December 3, and the post office will reopen at the Omniva Distribution Centre on December 8.
On December 4 and 5, the post office will be closed due to inventory relocation.
At the new location, all regular postal services will continue to be available — customers can send and receive mail and parcels, buy stamps and packaging, make payments, and subscribe to periodicals. The post office will be open on weekdays from 9:00 to 17:00.
The integration of regional post offices with distribution centres is part of the 2025–2026 postal network restructuring plan, aimed at aligning postal services in Estonia with the changing needs of society and using Omniva’s infrastructure and workforce more efficiently.
“According to consumer surveys, 83% of people prefer to send and receive parcels via parcel machines. Sending letters, on the other hand, is becoming a vanishing art — it’s estimated that the average Estonian will send fewer than half a letter this year. Stamps can also be purchased in ordinary stores, so there’s little reason to visit a post office just for that,” explained Kaie Kalvik, Head of Omniva’s Northern Region Postal Network. As a result, post office visits declined by 15% over the past year.
Moving the post office to the distribution centre will help reduce rental costs and improve workforce efficiency.
The relocation will also enable handling of larger shipments, as the new site provides suitable loading facilities. Currently, the Rakvere post office can only handle parcels up to 30 kg, since the current premises lack space for large shipments.

The courier can sell stamps and envelopes, send and deliver letters and universal service parcels, accept payments, and handle newspaper or magazine subscriptions.
This is a convenient option for those who may have difficulties leaving home due to transportation, health, or other reasons.
The service has been well received and continues to grow in popularity. The simplest and fastest way to request a personal postal service is by completing the online form. Requests can also be sent via email to [email protected], or, if internet access is unavailable, ordered by phone at 664 3330.
