Omniva to close Kiviõli post office on 1 October
As part of the modernisation of its postal network, Omniva will close the Kiviõli post office on 1 October due to low customer numbers. Parcel and postal services will remain available in the area.
During the first eight months of 2026, the Kiviõli post office received 43% fewer customer visits than during the same period in 2025.
“Consumer habits have changed, visits to post offices are declining rapidly, and post offices can no longer cover their operating costs as people increasingly prefer parcel machines. During 2026, we are adapting our postal network to better reflect society’s changing needs by reducing the number of postal outlets and expanding the parcel machine network across Estonia,” explained Lylian Peek, Head of Distribution and Postal Network at Omniva.
Parcel and postal services will remain available to residents of Lüganuse municipality. Both domestic and international parcels can be registered for dispatch through the Omniva mobile app or at minu.omniva.ee.
“In the self-service environment, customers can see all their outgoing and incoming parcels, track their journey and current status, and view their expected arrival time. They can also change the parcel collection point or extend the storage period,” Peek added.
Parcels can be sent and collected using the Kiviõli Grossi and Kiviõli Maxima X parcel machines or by courier.
Postage stamps will be available from Kiviõli Library. To make posting letters more convenient, Omniva will install letter slots in its parcel machines during the autumn.
The locations of all Omniva postal outlets, parcel machines, authorised stamp retailers and letterboxes are available at www.omniva.ee/locations.
Omniva also offers a personal postal service, allowing customers to request a postal courier visit to their home or workplace. The service is intended for people who are unable or prefer not to use digital services and is also suitable for people with reduced mobility.
The courier provides the same services available at a post office: customers can buy postage stamps and other postal supplies and send or receive letters and universal postal service parcels. The personal postal service can be booked through Omniva’s website or by contacting customer service at [email protected] or +372 664 3330. The service is free of charge for residents of Lüganuse municipality.
