Omniva appoints new Stamp Emission Committee for two-year term
The mandate of the new seven-member Stamp Emission Committee began on 1 September 2026. The committee is responsible for preparing and approving the annual stamp programme, deciding which themes will be featured on postage stamps, and assessing and approving stamp designs.
The committee comprises Katri Laanela, Head of Postal Services at Omniva; Agne Teder, Communications Manager at Omniva Estonia; historian Jaak Juske; design expert Ionel Lehari; Laura Kipper, Director of the Estonian National Museum; and philatelists Oliver Hanschmidt and Tiit Pruuli.
When assessing themes and designs, the committee considers their historical, cultural, societal, philatelic and practical significance, as well as the international value of the postage stamps. Where necessary, the committee also provides recommendations on the design of postage stamps and other philatelic products.
The committee will hold its first meeting on 25 September, when its members will review the proposals submitted for the 2027 stamp programme.
Ideas for postage stamp themes can be submitted via Omniva’s website until 4 September. Read more about the call for ideas in our earlier news article.
