Elves will help people to send postcards on Elron trains

From 12 December, you may meet Santa’s elves aboard Elron trains, from whom you can purchase a Christmas card and with the help of Eesti Post, you can send your warm wishes right from the train. You can send Christmas cards from trains until 21 December.

Elron marketing and communication manager Mariis Adamberg explained that in collaboration with Eesti Post, it is possible to use the train journey to forward good wishes. “The time spent riding on the train is time for oneself, but also time for good thoughts – this year, the passengers can write their good wishes on a postcard on the train and immediately send it as well,” Adamberg said.

According to member of the board of Eesti Post and head of postal business Kaida Kauler, sending Christmas letters and cards is surprisingly popular in the current era of smart devices. “Nowadays, letters and postcards are used mainly to send an emotion, not information. Personal and physical Christmas wishes warm the heart of its recipient and it is the best way to surprise loved ones,” Kauler said. “Unfortunately, people often forget to take the time and write down the good wishes, so the train ride is perfect for that.”

The elves can be seen on Elron trains between 12 and 21 December. The first elves start on the Tallinn-Tartu-Valga train departing at 8:13 on 12 December. The busy elves in red hats can be found on almost all lines and the wishes written down on the train can be sent across Estonia and around the world.

The detailed schedule of the postcard elves is available at www.elron.ee/postkaart.
