Disruptions in the functions of e-service on Saturday night

rom 15 May, the price of parcels sent from a post office will no longer depend on the weight of the parcel, but on its size (S, M, L, XL).

Ekspress Grupp and Postimees Grupp, the largest media organisations in Estonia, are selling AS Express Post, which is providing the newspaper delivery service in bigger cities, to the state-owned postal service provider Omniva. The purpose of the transaction is to find a more sustainable business model for the newspaper delivery service.

This Saturday, 19 February, Omniva will issue a postage stamp dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Rear Admiral Johan Pitka’s birth.

Eesti Posts’ member of the management board and head of postal business Kaida Kauler encourages everyone to gather everything necessary for sending holiday cards early so that during the peak season you only need to post the cards.

To improve the postal service, Eesti Post is changing some postal codes in Tallinn and Pärnu cities starting tomorrow. The change concerns both those living in these areas as well as those sending letters and parcels to these areas.

At its meeting held on 24 September, the Supervisory Board of Omniva (AS Eesti Post) decided to dismiss Ansi Arumeel, Chairman of the Management Board of Omniva.

To improve the postal service, Eesti Post is changing some postal codes in Tallinn and Pärnu cities from 1 October. In Tallinn, certain postal codes in the City Centre, Northern Tallinn, Kristiine, Haabersti, Mustamäe, Lasnamäe, Pirita and Nõmme districts will change. In Pärnu, the postal codes of some addresses located on Kodara, Savi, Supeluse and Villa streets will change.

To celebrate the first ever WRC event held in Estonia, Eesti Post releases a rally-themed WRC Rally Estonia stamp and a first day envelope. The stamp will be launched on the first rally day, 4 September, and from 30 July the stamp and envelope can be pre-ordered from the e-store at pood.omniva.ee. The pre-ordered products will be shipped to the buyers from 4 September.

The aim of voting on the best direct mail of the month is to recognise the client and their marketing partner. Eesti Post bases the assessment on outstanding design, distinct message and suitability of the solution for direct mail. More than 70 clients used direct mail in May, sending out 150 different direct mail items.

A group mailbox is comprised of multiple mailboxes helping the postal courier to deliver mail faster to the people in the area. Until midsummer, you can order a group mailbox for your local community for free.

From 31 May, letter-sending prices change and more stamps must be put on the envelope when sending a letter. A significant change is also that in case of a letter sent within Estonia, two services are established: letter and express letter.

Parcels that have been waiting to be picked up at the post offices will be there until Tuesday. Omniva has automatically extended the storage terms of parcels at the post offices until 12 May so people have enough time to pick them up. On 13 May the parcels that have not been picked up over a longer period will be shipped back to the sender.

The group’s business revenue was 29.8 million euros in three months and business profit was 208,000 euros. The result was affected by the planned cost cuts in the first quarter of 2020 and the e-commerce revenue that grew significantly due to the crisis.

The prices and standard terms and conditions of the universal postal service will change from 31 May 2020. Two domestic letter services will be available with different speeds (letter and express letter), weight group calculation for postal parcels becomes easier, and the maxi letter and standard parcel services are unified.

AS Eesti Post confirmed the 2019 financial results at the general meeting held on 6 April 2020. AS Eesti Post group business revenues increased in 2019 by 18.9% compared to 2018, reaching 129.6 million euros. The net loss of the group was 3,711 euros in 2019.

Eesti Post continues providing postal services at post offices and via self-service channels during the state of emergency; newspapers and letters will reach post boxes as usual. Post offices are open; however, in the state of emergency, the number of people visiting the post office is limited to prevent the infection risk for both clients and our employees.

In general, fewer letters are sent each year, but Eesti Post says Christmas cards remain popular. To make it easier to send Christmas greetings this year, temporary Christmas card post boxes have been installed in the most frequented post offices as well as in shopping centres. As a new feature this year, Christmas cards can also be mailed aboard trains.

From 12 December, you may meet Santa’s elves aboard Elron trains, from whom you can purchase a Christmas card and with the help of Eesti Post, you can send your warm wishes right from the train. You can send Christmas cards from trains until 21 December.

The Multimailbox project organised in collaboration with Eesti Post and the event marketing agency Royal Experience, and held within the Let’s Do It community activities day, won first place among low budget events at the global event marketing competition BEA World.

Omniva, the Estonian Communications and Service Workers Trade Union (ESTAL) and Estonian Transport and Road Workers Trade Union (ETTA) signed an agreement according to which the salary of nearly 1000 front line employees will be raised in 2020. The minimum basic salary will increase by up to 12% and on average 6.2%.

Based on unaudited data, the turnover of AS Eesti Post increased by 18.4 percent to 89.9 million euros in the 3rd quarter. However, the logistics company generated a loss of 700,000 euros.

The initiative for the kids from low-income families launched at the end of August by the Omniva Rakvere distribution centre turned out to be exceptionally successful. On Monday, the distribution centre’s employees handed over seven boxes full of donated school supplies to the Rakvere city government.

Another fake campaign that is being presented under the Eesti Post or Omniva name is spreading on the internet.

At its meeting held on 21 May, the Supervisory Board of Omniva (AS Eesti Post) decided to dismiss Joona Saluveer, Chairman of the Management Board of Omniva. The contract of Joona Saluveer will run out on 31 May 2018. Ansi Arumeel, currently Member of the Board, will carry out the duties of the Chairman until the new Chairman is assigned in autumn.

Omniva, the members of PostEurop, and children from Kadriorg Kindergarten, planted a young oak in honour of Estonia. The tree was the 100th anniversary gift to the Republic of Estonia and part of PostEurop Green Initiative project.

In the upcoming spring, Omniva will open a call centre in Jõgeva, where customer phone calls from all across Estonia will be answered. The opening of the centre will create 21 new jobs in Jõgeva.

In collaboration with FCR Media, Omniva has created a novel solution. This year, for the first time, it is possible to send a Christmas card with personal greetings by mail from the Internet as well.

According to a study on noticing direct mail conducted in June by Turu-uuringute AS, 85% of the readers of direct mail are positively influenced to visit the advertised store. According to 59% of the respondents, discount offers definitely influence their decisions.

Ten years ago today the first post station in Estonia was opened in Leevaku near the town of Räpina – the A&O shop in Leevaku started providing postal services as well. Quite soon there will be more post stations in shops, libraries and other establishments than there are single-purpose post offices in Estonia.

Danish post company sets five working days as the new national letter delivery rate in Denmark, effective as of 1 July. In the future, when sending letters from Estonia to Denmark, a person should keep in mind that the delivery will take at least seven working days.

As of 1 March, Omniva will no longer be providing the service of international money order. The service shall be replaced with the Western Union express money transfer service, which will be available at 107 post offices.

In order to ensure that all would be able to send their Christmas parcels and cards in good time, bigger post offices will be open longer than usual in December.

On 1 January 2016, the Universal Postal Service prices will rise; delivery prices for domestic standard letters will increase from 55 cents to 65 cents.

Finnish postal operator Posti has announced that the strike which started today morning will affect mail exchange with Finland during the following week.

Based on an application from AS Eesti Post (Omniva), the Estonian Competition Authority proposed that prices of services be increased as of 1 January 2016, in order to reduce losses from universal postal services. The delivery cost of a standard domestic letter will increase from 55 cents to 65 cents.

According to a recent notification from the United States Postal Service (USPS), it will no longer be providing information about the status of registered letter items that are on the U.S. territory.
