Omniva to close Viimsi post office as of March 31
As part of the modernization of its postal network, Omniva will close the Viimsi post office as of March 31. All postal services will remain available in the area going forward.
While an average of 67 items per day passed through the Viimsi post office over the past year, approximately 570 parcels per day are handled via local parcel lockers.
“People’s consumption habits have clearly changed, and visits to post offices are steadily declining. During 2026, Omniva will bring its postal network more in line with society’s evolving needs by reducing the number of post offices across Estonia and expanding the parcel locker network,” explained Lylian Peek, Head of Omniva’s Postal Network.
All postal services will continue to be available to Viimsi residents. Both domestic and international parcels can be registered for sending via the Omniva mobile app or the self-service portal at minu.omniva.ee.
“In the mobile app and self-service portal, customers can see all parcels they are sending or receiving, track the shipment’s journey and current status, change the delivery location, or extend the storage period,” Peek added.
Parcels can be sent and received via parcel lockers, of which there are currently seven in Viimsi municipality: Viimsi Rimi, Pärnamäe Rimi, Viimsi Shopping Centre, Viimsi Gross, Leppneeme Harbour, Haabneeme Coop Konsum, and Randvere Meie store.
Postage stamps and other mailing supplies can be purchased from resellers at Charlot Viimsi, Selver Viimsi, Apollo at Viimsi Centre, or from the Omniva e-shop. Letters can be posted via letterboxes. Locations of parcel lockers, resellers, and letterboxes in Viimsi municipality can be found here.
For residents with mobility challenges or those not yet comfortable using digital solutions, Omniva also offers a personal postal service in Viimsi municipality — the option to request a postal courier to one’s home or workplace. Through the courier, customers can purchase stamps and other supplies, send and receive letters and universal service parcels, pay bills, and subscribe to periodicals.
“We wish all Viimsi residents a smooth transition to the new postal service solutions,” said Lylian Peek.
