Start of the year multiplied the turnover of Maksekeskus

The number of transaction in Maksekeskus more than tripled during January and February compared to the previous year. The volume of transactions also increased around three times.

According to the CEO of Maksekeskus Art Lukas, small enterprises have become noticeably more active in creating new online stores during the past six months. “As Maksekeskus does not have any contractual fees and getting started is extremely easy, we are the first choice among new entrepreneurs,” Lukas explains. This is also supported by an around 80% increase in the number of active traders.

Lukas adds the payment market has also been influenced by the transition of numerous large enterprises to e-trade that, according to Lukas, is currently continuing even now. “These enterprises choose Maksekeskus as their partner due to our technological solutions that enable a level of automation not possible in banks,” Lukas clarifies.

According to Lukas, only providing Estonian banklinks is not sufficient for many large enterprises. “We cooperate with most banks in the Baltics and have a very close relationship with quite a few of them in order to create new solutions together,” Lukas says. “The rapid growth of the market and changes in the European regulations have created a situation where no one should complain about the lack of developments during the upcoming years,” he adds.

Maksekeskus is the subsidiary of Omniva that was established in 2013 and whose minority shareholders include Estonian banking and IT enterprises. The enterprise currently offers technological solutions for collecting payments to more than 900 online stores that allow them to save time and funds with the help of simple interfacing and automated systems.
