Mart Mägi appointed as the new Chairman of the Omniva Management Board

The Supervisory Board of Omniva (AS Eesti Post) appointed Mart Mägi as the new Chairman of the Management Board. Mägi will start with the company on May 10th.

Mart Mägi has had a long career in management, from both private and public sector and as a management consultant.
 
According to Helo Meigas, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Omniva, Mägi was chosen as the new Chairman for his long-term and diverse management experience from both private and public sectors. „Estonian Posts’ service quality matters to every individual in Estonia. Important criteria was Marts’ competence in leading customer-oriented companies, in addition his practice in international co-operation and recent success of reorganising Statistics Estonia,” said Meigas. “We believe that Mart, as the Chairman of the Management Board, can improve customer satisfaction across all services in the Estonian market and also in Latvia and Lithuania, where Omniva has built up a profitable parcel business.”

Mart Mägi sees Omniva as an important challenge. “Omniva team has done a great job building the company to be the leading logistics business in the Baltics. It’s important that while being the market leaders, we are also close to our customers and guarantee good availability and accessibility of services. The logistics and postal field is in big change and I believe that my experience in managing changes can help Omniva reach high customer satisfaction and efficiency.”
 
Mart Mägi works currently as the Director General at Statistics Estonia. Previously he has worked as the managing director in Amserv Group, member of the management at Swedbank Estonia as the CEO of Hansa Leasing and as a CEO of Sampo bank and Eesti Kindlustus.
 
Since 2015 Mägi has been a member or the chairman of the supervisory board in multiple enterprises, including state-owned enterprises, and has also advised various companies in strategic management.
 
Mart Mägi graduated from the University of Tartu with a degree in finance and credit in 1993 and from the Master of Business Administration programme in 2004, both cum laude. In addition, in 2001, he received an MBA cum laude in banking and insurance from the University of Insurance and Banking in Warsaw.

The open competition for Chairman of the Management Board of Omniva received nearly 40 applicants. In the final stage, Supervisory board made the decision between three candidates.
 
The main area of activity of AS Eesti Post is the provision of postal, logistic, and information logistics services and the handling of e-invoices. In addition to its parent company, the group consists of subsidiaries and affiliated companies. The main area of activity of SIA Omniva and UAB Omniva LT is the provision of parcel machine and courier services in the Latvian and Lithuanian markets. AS Maksekeskus provides payment solutions to companies engaged in e-commerce in the Baltics. Finbite OÜ offers e-invoice and fintech solutions in the Baltics. Post11 offers e-merchants holistic international logistics solutions for delivering goods around the world.

AS Eesti Post is 100% state-owned company. The owner of AS Eesti Post is the Republic of Estonia. The group employs 2300 people across the Baltics, and the turnover in 2020 was 135,6 million euros.
